Complex transitions between effusive and explosive eruptive styles are frequently observed at many volcanoes around the world. The main factors that influence the magma flow dynamics include compositional characteristics of the magma, conduit geometries, physical properties of rocks. In this framework, my research aims to investigate the physical mechanisms driving eruptive style transitions during volcanic eruptions or eruptive cycles with attention to the role of the local stress field.
